Well, we made it to 2021. So far, it doesn’t seem much better but I don’t think we expected anything different. Personally, I’m looking forward to summer and (hopefully) starting to travel again. All this time at home means plenty of opportunity to read, binge Netflix, bake, and cook.
While I haven’t been out shopping in months, I’m thankful for the Internet and delivery. Like many of you, I’ve been experimenting with the coziest clothes and doing deep dives into streaming services. These are my favorite products, books, and podcasts that I’ve discovered in the last couple of months.

Favorite Things: January 2021
These are the things getting me through staying at home this winter.
Women's Scotch Plaid Shirt, Sherpa-Lined
This sherpa-lined Scotch plaid flannel shirt from L.L.Bean is perfect for staying warm this winter. I layer it over a thermal on cold days and on warmer days, it can serve as a light jacket. Note: This product was gifted to me. All opinions are my own.

HUE Women's Ultra Soft Fleece Lined Denim Leggings
I'm always cold in the winter around the house and I've tried fleece-lined leggings before but never liked the quality. These are different. They fit just like leggings with a flattering silhouette and nice stretch in the waistband. But inside they are warm and cozy without making me hot.
Foliage Run Flannel Dress from Kiel James Patrick
I love this flannel dress from Kiel James Patrick. Not only does it have pockets (huge bonus!), but it is also warm and cozy, such a hard thing to find in a winter dress. I can't wait to have more places to wear it.

Sabatino Tartufi Truffle Zest Seasoning
Since I first discovered truffles, I've been a bit obsessed. I can walk into restaurants and sniff out truffles like a hunting dog. Unfortunately they are too pricey to have very often but this truffle zest from Sabatino is the next best thing. It adds a layer of richness to pasta, mashed potatoes, eggs -- you name it! Truffle fans will love this.

GrandeBROW Brow Enhancing Serum
Rarely would I call any beauty product a miracle worker but Grande Brow definitely has worked miracles on my brows. I recently noticed my eyebrows getting very thin, especially on the ends. My aesthetician recommended Grande Brow serum and within just a few weeks it has made a huge difference. My brows are so much fuller and nicer looking and since you can't see much over the mask these days, it is nice to feel good about my brows again.

Who Gets In and Why: A Year Inside College Admissions
For anyone going through the college search and application process, this book is very illuminating. After three years embedded with different college admissions officers and decades reporting on college admissions, the author pulls back the curtain on this process in a very eye-opening way.

Shiner: A Novel
I read over 50 books in 2020. While that is not a record, it is more than I have in recent years. Each time I share my favorite things I always try to include a few of my favorite books from recent months. Shiner is about a family that lives up in the mountains of West Virginia where moonshiners, snake handlers, and life without modern amenities is the norm. But the gripping story of family dynamics, murder, and survival draw you in. I stayed up way too late reading this in one night.
The Michelle Obama Podcast - Higher Ground
I've always had the utmost respect for Michelle Obama and after reading her book Becoming, I felt like I knew her on such a deeper level. We experienced so many of the same things -- from pregnancy loss to work-life balance to raising daughters. Listening to her on the podcast is true stress relief. She is so real, so relatable, so warm and funny and she cares about the same things that I do. So many of the podcast that I listen to about politics get me wound up but hers just calms me down.
