Stretched out on the heated table at The Spa in The Weston Vermont, my muscles loose from the private yoga class I had just finished, my relaxation was complete and I struggled to stay awake during my facial treatment. Not that I tried too hard, after all, this was a state I rarely achieved. Instead of hitting the slopes at nearby Okemo or Stratton Mountains, I was exactly where I wanted to be. Inside Vermont’s newest luxury inn, warm and relaxed, while the snow swirled in the frigid air outside.
After two years of renovation, The Weston opened in October 2023. Formerly the Inn at Weston, this luxury property has been reimagined and brought to life by the noteworthy Sharp Family, the hoteliers behind New York’s legendary Carlyle and Gramercy Park Hotels. With just five guest rooms and three spacious suites, The Weston favors personalized service and exceptional experiences.

After a busy couple of months, my husband and I were happy to spend a romantic getaway in Vermont doing absolutely nothing. It is a rarity that we don’t pack our schedule with places to go and things to see, but I’ve driven this stretch of scenic Route 100 in Southern Vermont numerous times in the last couple of years and we were more than happy to have nothing on the agenda except some self-care and good food.
Of course, should you be so inclined, The Weston is centrally located for exploring Southern Vermont, just an hour from Brattleboro and 30 minutes to Manchester, with plenty of ski resorts just a short drive away. Guests of The Weston can enjoy nearby hiking and shopping for all the maple syrup, cheddar cheese, and Vermont goods they can carry at the Vermont Country Store across the street or the Weston Country Store just a few steps down the road.

From the minute you walk in the door of The Weston, greeted by warm smiles and hot beverages in the tea room, you sense something different about this country inn. You soon realize it is the professionalism of the staff and a level of service that you don’t often find these days, an unexpected joy in the heart of rural New England.
Accommodations at The Weston Vermont

Each guest room at The Weston is uniquely designed and luxuriously appointed in an elegant style befitting a country estate. While they offer the comforts of home, these rooms are far from “homey”. With five-star amenities such as Frette linens, Diptyque toiletries, Dyson hair dryers, plush robes and slippers, sparkling and still water by the bedside, and even a handheld clothing steamer, the rooms at the Weston are more “luxury hotel” than “country bed and breakfast.”
Many of the rooms offer amenities such as gas-powered fireplaces, outdoor porches, standing tubs, or walk-in rain showers. In addition to the five rooms in the main building, there are three luxury suites in the detached Carriage House and historic Mill Building.
One of these large suites feature two bedrooms, each with king-sized beds and en-suite bathrooms, connected by a common landing and sharing an outdoor entertaining space with a bocce court — making it perfect for couples traveling together.
The other dog-friendly, spacious suites offer king-sized beds with a private library, dining space, workspace, and gas fireplace, with ultra-luxe finishings.

Dining at The Left Bank
Room service is available for hotel guests, but even the locals have discovered the cuisine of The Left Bank, filling the dining room night after night. The French bistro-inspired menu was created by Executive Chef Bretton Combs, previously of San Francisco’s SPIN and Cat Cora’s Kitchen.
Every now and then you are in a country setting and find an unexpected dining gem, instead of the typical pub grub. The Left Bank is just such a delight, offering French country cuisine, a full cocktail bar, and an extensive, yet eclectic, wine list. If you are traveling with a group, you can book a private chef’s tasting dinner in the wine cellar, a small, wine-lined dining room just off the tea room that seats up to eight.

Each dish we tried during our two-night stay was exceptionally prepared, with a professional level of service and wine knowledge that made dinner not just a meal, but an experience. We were particularly impressed with the layered flavors of the duck confit, the perfect seasoning and temperature of the steak au poivre, and the irresistibility of the frites.
Whatever you do, leave room for the chocolate ice cream. Made in the French style, you will want to bring this decadent rich treat home in pints.
The Spa at The Weston

In the Carriage House at The Weston, you will find a small fitness room, which my husband utilized while I took a private class in the small yoga studio. The instructor, a former physical therapist, was able to direct this private yoga session to meet my experience level and bodily limitations and quirks.
It is now my firm belief that everyone should do yoga before a massage or body treatment. How much better it feels when your muscles are already stretched and loosened up! The Spa offers a private sauna and steam shower, along with two treatment rooms. Offerings include a selection of facials and massage services, just be sure to book your services in advance.
Whether you are looking for a romantic getaway or a self-care weekend, you will find it at The Weston.
